Senior Residential Support Worker

Location: West Yorkshire
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) + Sleep-in payments (where applicable)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker looking to take the next step in your career?

We are looking for passionate and dedicated Senior Residential Support Workers to join our brand-new children's residential home. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new service from the very beginning, working alongside the Registered Manager to create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home where children and young people can flourish.

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in leading shifts, mentoring staff, promoting positive outcomes, and ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered every day.

About the Role

You will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs, helping them develop independence, resilience, and confidence while ensuring they feel safe, valued and respected.

Working closely with the management team, you will lead by example, support the development of Residential Support Workers, and contribute to creating an Outstanding home.

Responsibilities

Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home.
Provide high-quality, child-centred care in line with individual care plans.
Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Promote positive behaviour using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Support children with education, health appointments, hobbies, and community activities.
Complete key working sessions and contribute to care planning.
Ensure accurate daily records, incident reports, risk assessments, and documentation are completed to a high standard.
Administer medication safely in accordance with company policies.
Support safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly.
Mentor and support Residential Support Workers, promoting best practice.
Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals.
Participate in team meetings, supervisions, and ongoing training.
Participate in the on-call rota where required (if applicable).

Essential Experience

Applicants should have:

At least 2 years' experience working in a children's residential setting.
Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, attachment needs, or complex behaviours.
Experience leading shifts or supporting less experienced staff.
Good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
The ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) (or equivalent), or be willing to work towards it within the required timescales.
A full UK Driving Licence.
An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable

Experience within a newly established children's home.
Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Quality Standards.
Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
Team Leader or Senior Residential experience.
Medication administration training.
First Aid, MAPA/PRICE or equivalent behaviour management training.
