Our beautiful nursery, The Cottage, is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Third in Charge to join our leadership team.

About the Role
This is a 24–30 hour per week position, worked across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
As our Third in Charge, you will have your own key group of children, supporting their learning and development while playing an important role in leading the team and maintaining the high standards that Nanny Bears is known for.
Working closely with the Nursery Manager and Deputy Nursery Manager, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery, providing guidance, encouragement and support to colleagues while modelling outstanding Early Years practice. You will also support the management team in their absence, helping to ensure continuity and consistency across the setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a Key Person for your own group of children, building strong partnerships with families.
- Supporting the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager with the day-to-day leadership of the nursery.
- Leading by example and promoting a positive, collaborative working environment.
- Motivating, mentoring and supporting colleagues to deliver outstanding care and education.
- Planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning experiences in line with the EYFS.
- Supporting children's learning and development through meaningful interactions and high-quality teaching.
- Creating a calm, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and inspired.
- Supporting the management team in maintaining high standards of practice, safeguarding and compliance.
- Encouraging creativity, curiosity, independence and confidence throughout the nursery.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for every child.

This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility while continuing to spend the majority of their time working directly with children.

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Previous experience working within an Early Years setting.
- Experience supporting or leading a team, such as a Room Lead, Senior Practitioner or similar leadership role.
- Sound knowledge of child development and the EYFS Framework.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A positive, caring and enthusiastic approach.
- Ability to motivate and support colleagues.
- A genuine passion for providing exceptional care and education.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience supporting staff development or mentoring colleagues.
- Confidence in supporting the day-to-day running of a nursery.
