The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) is the independent economic and safety regulator for Britains railways and monitor of performance on Englands strategic road network.

Job description

The team deals with all ORRs statutory access and licensing casework and policy. This includes how access to track, stations and depots, is allocated and the issuing of licences and exemptions needed by all operators.

As Manager of the Freight, Stations and Depots Access team, you will lead your team decision making on freight, station and depot access to contribute to a growing economy. Your project management and leadership will ensure ORRs current statutory access duties are delivered, shape the future interaction with Great British Railways (GBR) and influence the transition from the existing capacity allocation regime to the future one. While developing monitoring in your area for the new regime you will ensure access outside of GBR operates effectively. This is an exciting time to join the team, as your work will support the railway system impacting on industry, Government, and ORR objectives.

Additional Information

At ORR, our hybrid working means that we currently work from our workplace location a minimum of 40% of our working week, although requirements to attend other offsite locations for official business, also count towards this level of attendance. Working arrangements are subject to continuous review.
