Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Dairy Assistant specialising in milking cows to join our agricultural team. This role involves hands-on animal care, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks essential for the smooth functioning of our dairy farm. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the health and productivity of our dairy herd while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Responsibilities

Milking cows efficiently and hygienically using appropriate equipment and techniques
Monitoring animal health and behaviour, reporting any concerns to senior staff
Assisting with general farm upkeep including cleaning, organisation, and equipment checks

Skills

Basic knowledge of animal care and husbandry practices
Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and conducting equipment repairs
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
Competence in basic maths for record keeping and measurements
Familiarity with irrigation systems and horticultural practices is advantageous
Good organisational skills for maintaining cleanliness and operational efficiency
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Basic understanding of maintenance procedures related to farm machinery and equipment
