Baker / Pastry Chef

Location: Montezuma's, Chester
Hours: 24–40 hours per week (flexible)
Store opens 7 days per week – must be flexible across the week.

Do you have a passion for creating beautiful cakes, delicious pastries, and exceptional baked treats? We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Baker/Pastry Chef to join our team at Montezuma's Chester.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves baking from scratch, enjoys being creative, and takes pride in producing consistently high-quality products using clean ingredients. You'll play a key role in bringing the Montezuma's experience to life, delighting our customers with every bake.

What You'll Be Doing

Baking & Food Preparation

Prepare a range of cakes, pastries, cookies, baked treats and café food items to company recipes and standards.
Ensure every product is consistently presented to the highest quality.
Help develop exciting new recipes that align with the Montezuma's brand and clean ingredient philosophy.
Work efficiently to meet daily customer demand while maintaining exceptional standards.
Follow recipes, portion control and decoration guidelines to ensure consistency.

Food Safety & Hygiene

Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety.
Keep all preparation areas, equipment and workstations clean, organised and compliant.
Store ingredients and finished products correctly to minimise waste and maintain freshness.
Keep food safety and allergen knowledge up to date through ongoing training.

Stock Management

Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages to the Store Manager.
Help ensure recipes remain cost-effective and minimise unnecessary waste.
Rotate stock using FIFO principles to maintain freshness.
Keep storage and preparation areas tidy and organised.

Working as Part of the Team

Work closely with the wider store team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Support colleagues with product displays and serving when required.
Share your baking knowledge and assist other team members where needed.
Collaborate with the Store Manager and New Product Development team to bring fresh ideas and creativity to the business.

Customer Experience

Take pride in presenting products that customers love.
Support colleagues with ingredient and allergen information when required.
Help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the Montezuma's brand.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Passionate about baking and producing outstanding products.
Creative, with an eye for detail and presentation.
Organised and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
A great team player with strong communication skills.
Proactive, reliable and eager to contribute new ideas.
Flexible to work between 24 and 40 hours per week, including weekends where required.
Committed to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and cleanliness.
