Head of Commercial Operations | Shape the Future of Commercial Excellence

We're looking for a highly driven, innovative and motivational Head of Commercial Operations to join our Building Drainage Division.

This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for bringing together our customer-facing commercial functions into one high-performing team focused on delivering outstanding customer outcomes and commercial excellence.

Leading our Commercial Customer Service, Project Pricing and Design teams, you'll drive alignment, strengthen collaboration and champion continuous improvement across people, processes and systems. Working closely with the Divisional Managing Director and key stakeholders across Operations, Finance and IT, you'll identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, improve customer experience and support sustainable business growth.

This is more than an operational leadership role. It's an opportunity to influence how we work, develop our commercial capabilities and help shape the future direction of the division.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading, developing and inspiring commercial teams to perform at their very best.
Driving a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Optimising systems, processes and ways of working to improve efficiency and customer outcomes.
Building strong cross-functional relationships to drive alignment and business performance.
Supporting customer retention and growth through exceptional service and commercial excellence.
Developing trusted partnerships with key customers and stakeholders.
Using data and insight to identify opportunities that improve profitability, efficiency and customer experience.
Playing a key role in shaping and delivering the division's commercial strategy.

This is an office-based role currently located in Bedford (MK41 0LF). Upon completion of our Head Office redevelopment programme, the role will relocate to our new headquarters in Shefford (SG17 5TE).

About you

You are a commercially minded leader who enjoys developing people, improving performance and delivering positive change. You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach and have a proven ability to bring teams together around a common goal.

Your experience and background will ideally include:

Leading customer-facing commercial teams within a B2B environment.
Delivering process improvements that enhance performance, efficiency or profitability.
Coaching and developing teams to achieve their full potential.
Building effective relationships across multiple business functions.
Using commercial insight to support business growth and customer success.
Manufacturing experience and knowledge of multiple routes to market would be advantageous.

Experience with the construction industry is highly desirable but not essential.
