Job summary
We require friendly, positive thinking, organised and motivated individual to work as a Housekeeper within our Older Persons Mental Health Wards here at Gosport War Memorial Hospital.
You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be working in a multi-professional team and will need to be able to think on the spot and be empathetic. You will be passionate about our business, creating a culture of continuous improvement and providing a release of time to care for the Nursing staff.
Experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment are essential as you will be working in a demanding environment. Catering and food service experience would be beneficial along with a passion to providing high standards of customer service.
Experience of working or volunteering in a mental health and learning disabilities environment is essential. Also, the ability to provide a positive approach and image, when working with relevant client groups throughout the Trust.
The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and appraisal. A willingness to undertake training relevant to the post is essential.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
Support Ward Manager in monitoring standards in service delivery relating to all aspects of housekeeping, catering, and maintenance.
Oversee the laundry service to the ward, ensuring appropriate levels of clean linen are maintained.
Liaise with and support the Cleaning Contractor with keeping the ward areas clean to the standard required. Managing and Escalating areas of concern.
Ensure patients receive support with nutrition and hydration,escalating concerns to Nurse in Charge.
Ensure the ward is always clean and safe,liaising with Cleaning Contractor.
Ensure general and specialist equipment are cleaned as per Policy.
Cleaning of nursing areas and the allocation of bedrooms and necessary movement of property, cleaning of area.
Ensure equipment is in good working order and report any maintenance issues to necessary department.
Ensure mattress checks, audits are completed in line with Trust Policy. Monitor rejected linen and ensure necessary process is completed for returns.
Maintain the safety of patients property and belongings, handling with care and in accordance with Trust Policy.
Provide support in assisting patients with choice of beverages, nutrition and hydration needs.
Completion of menu summary sheets ensuring correct information e.g. allergens, special diets is included.
Receive and welcome visitors.
Ensure ordering, checking, unpacking of supplies, check stock and rotate as necessary to meet staff and patients needs.
