At Little Explorers Day Nursery & Preschool, we are passionate about providing exceptional care and education for every child. We are looking for an ambitious, experienced and inspiring Nursery Floor Supervisor and Quality Lead to join our senior leadership team.

This is not a typical Floor Supervisor role. We are seeking someone who thrives on leading others, driving continuous improvement and creating an outstanding learning environment for both children and staff.

Working closely with the Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager and Owner, you will play a key role in maintaining consistency, supporting our Room Leaders, developing practitioners and ensuring the highest standards are embedded across our four nursery rooms every single day.

About the Role

As Nursery Floor Supervisor, you will work across all four nursery rooms, providing visible leadership and operational support throughout the day.

You will coach, mentor and develop practitioners whilst ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, teaching, learning and care are consistently maintained.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will be expected to lead by example, build positive relationships and promote a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities Leadership

Lead and inspire staff through positive role modelling.
Support and coach Room Leaders in leading their teams effectively.
Promote a positive, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Lead difficult conversations professionally and confidently.
Support staff wellbeing whilst maintaining high expectations.
Assist with performance management, supervisions and probation reviews.
Deliver staff meetings, coaching sessions and training where appropriate.
Develop future leaders within the nursery.

Quality of Practice

You will ensure consistently outstanding practice by:

Monitoring the quality of teaching and learning.
Supporting practitioners to deliver an ambitious EYFS curriculum.
Monitoring children's learning and development.
Supporting planning, observations and assessments.
Ensuring environments are stimulating, engaging and well organised.
Supporting children with SEND alongside the SENCO.
Driving effective EAL strategies throughout the nursery.
Promoting inclusive practice for every child.

Operational Management

You will work across all four rooms ensuring:

High-quality daily practice.
Effective staff deployment.
Safe staff ratios.
Excellent organisation and time management.
Smooth daily routines.
Safe sleep procedures are consistently followed.
Mealtimes are calm and well organised.
Outdoor learning opportunities are meaningful.
Learning environments remain clean, organised and inspection ready.
Resources are maintained to a high standard.

Staff Development

You will lead and support staff through:

New staff inductions.
Coaching and mentoring.
Peer observations.
Constructive feedback.
Identifying development needs.
Supporting apprentices and students.
Delivering in-house training.
Supporting continuous professional development.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.

Responsibilities include:

Promoting an excellent safeguarding culture.
Monitoring safeguarding practice.
Challenging unsafe practice immediately.
Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead where appropriate.
Ensuring nursery policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Monitoring compliance with EYFS requirements.
Supporting health and safety compliance.
Completing quality assurance audits.
Identifying improvements before issues arise.

Ofsted Readiness

The successful candidate will ensure the nursery remains inspection ready every day by:

Coaching staff to confidently discuss the EYFS.
Supporting curriculum implementation.
Monitoring safeguarding knowledge.
Leading mock Ofsted activities.
Driving continuous improvement.
Supporting leadership during inspections.

Partnership with Parents

You will:

Build positive relationships with families.
Support challenging conversations professionally.
Promote excellent customer service.
Ensure consistent communication across all rooms.
Represent the nursery professionally at all times.

Essential Skills & Experience

Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum).
Previous leadership or supervisory experience within an Early Years setting.
Excellent knowledge of the EYFS.
Outstanding safeguarding knowledge.
Strong leadership and coaching skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to confidently manage difficult conversations.
Excellent organisation and time management.
Strong IT skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development.

Desirable

Leadership qualification (Level 5 or above).
Paediatric First Aid.
Safeguarding training.
Food Hygiene qualification.
Experience supporting children with SEND and EAL.
