Full job description

Sales Executive / Business Development Manager

Sign Systems is a well-established sign manufacturing business based in the East Midlands. Due to organisational changes and continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious, motivated and commercially minded Sales Representative / Business Development Manager to join our busy and friendly team at our Derbyshire office.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is not only confident in managing existing enquiries and projects, but who has the drive, personality and commercial ability to actively win new business and develop long-term client relationships.

The Role

The most important part of this role will be bringing new business into the company. We are looking for someone who is confident approaching prospective customers, identifying opportunities and developing relationships that ultimately result in new orders.

You will be expected to act as an ambassador for Sign Systems, representing the company professionally when meeting clients, carrying out site visits and attending surveys. You should be comfortable picking up the phone, making new contacts and proactively looking for opportunities rather than simply waiting for enquiries to come in.

Alongside business development, you will be responsible for managing your own projects and sales enquiries from initial contact through to completion. This will include:

Proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities.
Building strong relationships with new and existing clients.
Visiting prospective and existing customers and carrying out site surveys.
Handling incoming and ad-hoc sales enquiries.
Following up outstanding quotations and converting opportunities into orders.
Managing your own projects and ensuring they progress smoothly from quotation through to completion.
Liaising with clients, suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered to the required standard.
Raising job sheet information and keeping our internal systems up to date.
Attending fortnightly sales meetings and working towards agreed sales targets.
Helping to identify opportunities to increase sales and develop the company's customer base.

About You

We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, confident and genuinely enjoys winning business.

You should have excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with customers both face-to-face and over the telephone. You will need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and taking ownership of projects.

The ideal candidate will:

Have an established background in signage and sales environment.
Have a proven ability to generate and win new business.
Be ambitious, motivated and target driven.
Be confident meeting prospective customers and developing new relationships.
Have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Be organised and able to manage your own projects from start to finish.
Have good attention to detail and the ability to prepare accurate quotations and costs.
Have basic IT skills and good written English and grammar.
Ideally have previous experience using Clarity software or similar signage/project management software.
Be commercially aware and able to recognise opportunities to increase sales.
Be a team player who can also work independently and take responsibility for their own results.

Experience within the signage industry is essential, as is a strong sales background. Experience of managing signage projects and working with Clarity software would be highly advantageous.
