Trainee Service Engineer – Air Compressors

Location: Scotland
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

We are entering an exciting period of ambitious growth, with significant plans to expand our customer base across all industrial sectors throughout Scotland. To support this expansion, we are looking for a motivated Trainee Service Engineer to join our team and build a long-term career with us.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn, develop new skills and become part of a successful, growing engineering business. Full training and support will be provided, allowing the successful candidate to develop into a skilled service engineer within the compressed air industry.

The Role

As a Trainee Service Engineer, you will experience a varied role combining working alongside experienced engineers, workshop-based activities, and attending customer sites independently as your skills and confidence develop.

You will gain hands-on experience assisting with the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of air compressors and associated equipment. Working closely with our experienced engineering team, you will develop the technical knowledge and practical skills required to progress into a fully independent service engineer role.

A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel is a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of air compressors and associated equipment.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and repairs.
Perform compressed air energy audits.
Conduct breathing air quality tests.
Carry out ultrasonic leak detection surveys.
Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

A good engineering background with mechanical and/or electrical knowledge.
A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
A positive, adaptable attitude and strong work ethic.

Good organisational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A commitment to providing outstanding customer service and building long-term customer relationships.
