Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organised environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for catering, cooking, and delivering excellent service in a fast-paced setting. Previous restaurant or culinary experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with health and safety standards
Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of work areas
Help with basic cooking tasks under supervision, ensuring timely delivery of meals
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, peeling, and portioning
Ensure food safety protocols are followed at all times to prevent contamination
Serve food to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
Assist with stock control by monitoring supplies and notifying management of shortages
Maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the kitchen environment

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or food preparation is desirable but not mandatory
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene
Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail
Basic cooking skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques
Strong organisational skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
A genuine interest in culinary arts and customer service
