Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team, providing high-quality support to individuals in care homes and those receiving home care. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives by delivering personalised care in a professional and respectful manner. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, and committed to promoting independence and wellbeing among service users. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate travel between locations.

Duties

Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
Support individuals with their care plans, helping them achieve their personal goals and maintain independence
Provide companionship and emotional support to service users, fostering a friendly and trusting environment
Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals and maintain accurate records of care provided
Assist with meal preparation and feeding where necessary, ensuring dietary requirements are met
Maintain accurate documentation of care activities using IT systems and report any concerns or changes in health status to senior staff
Support clients with light domestic tasks to promote a safe and comfortable living environment
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care delivery

Experience

Previous experience working within a care home or home care setting is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of care plans and procedures related to personal care and medication administration is desirable
Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with clients and team members
Driving experience or possession of a valid driving licence is preferred for roles requiring travel between locations
