Job description

As a Lead Data Governance Manager, your responsibilities will include, but arent limited to:

Lead on the implementation of a data governance framework of the organisations data assets throughout their capture, retention, archiving and deletion lifecycle.
Develop and champion best practice and guidance in data governance. Document and implement data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve data quality management across all MCA data assets. Report on the integrity of the organisations data assets.
Ensure that all guidance and policy for data governance is aligned with legislative requirements.
Work with data owners across the organisation to minimise data risks and increase data literacy.
Support Data Ethics and data governance for AI.
Represent the MCA at cross-government data forums.

Required experience:

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

Experience advising on data governance approaches and standards, setting direction, building and maintaining networks and collaborating across teams with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience of applying data governance over a data lifecycle, ensuring best practice at each phase - This should include practical experience of using governance tools and platforms (such as Databricks Unity Catalog, data catalogues, metadata repositories, lineage and data quality tooling) to implement governance controls, improve data quality, support compliance, manage risk and increase trust in organisational data assets.
Experience of communicating/presenting complex data governance technical information to a non-technical audience.

Additional Information

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.

Hybrid working available

This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.

The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.

Occasional travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
