Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our children's home. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives while developing your skills within a professional childcare setting. The role requires a compassionate approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Duties

Provide day-to-day support and care for children and young people in accordance with their individual care plans
Assist with organising activities, outings, and educational opportunities that promote development and well-being
Support children with their personal care needs, fostering independence where appropriate
Maintain accurate records of daily routines, behaviour, and progress in line with organisational policies
Foster positive relationships through effective communication and active listening
Contribute to safeguarding procedures by recognising and reporting concerns promptly
Support children with their emotional needs, offering reassurance and stability during challenging times
Assist with transport arrangements by driving children to appointments or activities as required
Collaborate with colleagues, social workers, and families to ensure consistent support for each child

Qualifications

Experience working with children or in childcare settings is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for successful applicants
Valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transport duties
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, families, and professionals
Knowledge of child development principles and safeguarding procedures is advantageous
IT literacy skills to maintain accurate documentation and complete reports efficiently
Compassionate attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure
Flexibility to work shifts as required within the organisation’s rota system
Commitment to achieve Diploma level 3/4 in Children and Young People’s Workforce
