We are currently seeking talented, motivated and service-driven Waiters and Waitresses to join our team at our iconic Covent Garden Flagship Store.

Home to the world's largest tea wall, our iconic Covent Garden flagship is a unique Tea Emporium combining luxury retail, a renowned tearoom and restaurant, takeaway service, terrace and private event spaces. Welcoming guests from around the world every day, it offers a truly distinctive hospitality experience in the heart of London.

We are looking for hospitality professionals who are passionate about service excellence, thrive in a premium environment and are eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.

The Role

This is more than a traditional waiter or waitress position.

As a member of the Mariage Frères hospitality team, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure.

In addition to restaurant service, you will support guest hosting, reservations, terrace operations, takeaway service and the overall smooth running of our Tea Emporium.

We are looking for flexible, proactive and motivated individuals who take pride in delivering outstanding service and who are willing to support different areas of the operation according to business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Restaurant & Tea Room Service

Deliver professional, attentive and personalised table service.
Ensure guests receive an exceptional dining and tea experience.
Take food and beverage orders accurately and confidently.
Serve food, teas and beverages according to company standards.
Manage your section efficiently while maintaining the highest service standards.
Ensure smooth communication with the kitchen and wider team.
Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues professionally.

Guest Experience & Hosting

Welcome guests warmly and professionally.
Manage guest flow throughout the restaurant, terrace and Tea Emporium.
Escort guests to their tables and assist with seating arrangements.
Support reservation management and waiting lists.
Ensure every guest receives a memorable and personalised experience.
Act as a true ambassador for the Mariage Frères brand.

Terrace & Takeaway Operations

Support and oversee guest experience on the terrace.
Assist with takeaway food and beverage service.
Ensure all guest areas remain clean, organised and inviting.
Maintain exceptional presentation standards throughout the site.

Team & Operational Support

Support colleagues across different areas of the flagship operation when required.
Assist with opening and closing duties.
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
Follow company procedures, operational standards and health & safety requirements.
Contribute positively to team spirit and overall business performance.

Skills & Experience

Essential

Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant service or a customer-facing environment.
Excellent spoken English.
Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy service environment.
Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Highly Desirable

Experience in premium or luxury hospitality.
Experience as a host or hostess.
Experience managing terraces or outdoor dining areas.
Experience with reservations systems.
Experience with takeaway operations.
Experience with cocktails, bar service or beverage preparation.
Knowledge of tea, gastronomy or premium food and beverage.
Additional languages.
French language skills would be a strong advantage.
Previous supervisory or floor leadership experience is welcomed.

Availability & Flexibility

Full-Time Opportunities

Full-time positions available.
Availability to work Monday to Sunday according to business needs.
Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, early shifts and late shifts.

Part-Time Opportunities

Part-time positions available:
16 hours per week: Saturday and Sunday.
24 hours per week: Saturday, Sunday and one additional shift during the week.
Weekend availability is essential for all part-time positions.
Additional shifts and hours may be available during peak trading periods, seasonal events, holiday cover and business needs.
Candidates with additional availability during school, college or university holidays are particularly encouraged to apply.
While additional hours cannot be guaranteed, flexibility to accept extra shifts when available would be highly desirable.

General Flexibility

Working schedules and operating hours may evolve according to business requirements, seasonal demand, private events and future business development.
Successful candidates must be adaptable, flexible and willing to support the needs of the business as required.
