Full job description

Job Title: Maths and/or English Daytime Tutor (Primary & Secondary)

Location: London (All Areas but preferably Lewisham and Camden)

Pay: £25–£30 per hour

Contract: Contracted - full-time or part-time

Payment: Monthly

About the Role

We are looking for kind, caring, and compassionate Maths and/or English Tutors to support primary and secondary-aged children who are educated outside of mainstream school.

You will work one-to-one, delivering fun, engaging, and personalised lessons to children who may be:

Educated under Section 19
Experiencing medical or mental health needs
Children in care
On a pathway toward reintegration into school

Tuition will take place face-to-face in a range of settings including:

The child’s home
Schools or hospital schools
Community locations (libraries, cafés, parks)

This role involves close collaboration with Local Authorities, Virtual Schools and

Monthly pay via PAYE
£25–£30 per hour, depending on experience

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Direct work with hospital schools and virtual schools for children in care

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who:

Have experience working with children or young people
Can confidently deliver Maths and/or English
Are able to create engaging, motivating, and supportive lessons
Bring a positive, nurturing, and calm presence, particularly when supporting children with physical or mental health needs

Ideal backgrounds include:

Previous tutors
Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
Teaching Assistants (TAs)
HLTAs
Qualified Teachers

Essential Requirements

Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service
Right to work in the UK
Ability to travel around the Lewisham or Camden area
Strong organisation and record-keeping skills, including:
Session reports for each child
Attendance records
Logging your own timesheets
A genuine commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and relationship-based practice
