Full job description

RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER (TERM TIME ONLY)

This role is term time only meaning the successful candidate would be working 37 weeks of the year. Term dates can be viewed on our website.

Salary Range (FTE) = £28,038 - £29,236* per annum 40 hours, 52 weeks
(This salary includes a market supplement for Residential Support Workers)

Actual salary for working 37 weeks = £15.37* per hour (inclusive of holiday pay uplift)  £22,881 - £23,859* per annum

*Sleep-ins paid at an extra £78.48 per night (This equates to approximately £3,500 additional payment when working 1 sleep-in shift per week)

This post is based in and around Nailsworth, Stroud and Stonehouse, drivers with access to their own vehicle are preferred due to some locations being remote and not served with public transport links.

Weekend working and flexibility to cover a full rota is an essential requirement of the role.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Ruskin Mill College, Ruskin Mill Trust, as part of the  committed team focusing on the holistic needs of the students. The students benefit from an extensive range of  nutritional, therapeutic and medical support at each college that is reflected in the college sessions and in the  residential provision. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting a career across care and education. 

This role can be both physically/emotionally demanding, and you must have the confidence/patience to adapt to the behaviours that challenge or are of concern that the young people can present. The role is also extremely rewarding as you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact to the lives of young people in our care. 

To be considered for this role you will: 

Have a strong desire to support young people
Have excellent observational skills, and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our young people to reimagine their potential 
Be a patient, caring, compassionate with a young person-centred nature 
Demonstrate the ability to manage emotionally challenging situations, be a team player with experience of support work in both educational and residential settings 
Have emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in stressful situations 
Be able to work flexible hours as this role works predominantly evenings, weekend and sleepovers on a rota basis
