Full job description

Head Chef – New Local Brunch & Takeaway Eatery

We’re looking for an experienced, energetic and creative Head Chef to take the lead in the kitchen of an exciting new local brunch and takeaway eatery.

At the heart of what we’re creating is a simple idea: great food, made properly. We want as much as possible to be made fresh in-house, using great ingredients and a kitchen team that genuinely cares about what they produce.

We’re looking for a Head Chef with a real passion for creating food — someone who gets excited about developing new dishes, trying new ideas and taking simple ingredients and turning them into something people want to come back for.

Brunch will be a big part of what we do, alongside a strong takeaway and grab-and-go offer of freshly made sandwiches, salads, hot dishes, sides, baked goods and daily specials.

As Head Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the kitchen and food offer from the beginning — developing menus, creating recipes, setting standards and building an efficient kitchen that can deliver fantastic food consistently.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running and development of the kitchen, including:

Leading and motivating the kitchen team through busy brunch and lunch services
Creating and developing new dishes, recipes and seasonal specials
Building an exciting, accessible and consistently high-quality brunch menu
Developing a strong takeaway and grab-and-go range
Making as much of our food as possible fresh and from scratch in-house
Producing brilliant sandwiches, salads, brunch dishes, hot food and specials
Bringing new ideas and creativity to the menu
Creating food that looks and tastes great while remaining commercially viable
Managing prep and production to make busy services run smoothly
Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality and presentation
Managing ordering, stock, waste, margins and food costs
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety standards
Training and developing the kitchen team
Working closely with the wider team to continually evolve what we do

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or strong Kitchen Manager
Has a genuine passion for food and creating new dishes
Takes pride in making food from scratch rather than buying everything in
Is confident running a busy, high-volume brunch or daytime kitchen
Understands the organisation and pace needed for a great brunch service
Has experience with takeaway, grab-and-go or fast-paced casual dining
Has a strong understanding of brunch food, sandwiches, salads and fresh daily preparation
Enjoys experimenting with ingredients, flavours and seasonal produce
Can balance creativity and quality with speed, consistency and food cost
Is highly organised and comfortable managing ordering, stock, prep and kitchen systems
Can lead and inspire a team while still being happy to get stuck in during service
Takes real pride in the food leaving their kitchen

The Opportunity

This is a chance to take ownership of the kitchen in a brand-new local brunch spot and have a genuine influence on what it becomes.

We want to create a busy, welcoming neighbourhood eatery with a reputation for brilliant brunch, great coffee and fresh food made in-house — whether customers are sitting in for brunch or grabbing a sandwich, salad or something hot to take away. This position is full time day hours only.
