£12.71-£14.75 Basic rate
£19.07-£22.13 Early-morning rate
Hourly rate at top of ad based on average 2-3 opening shifts per week

Open Bakery is looking for a pâtissier/pastry chef to become part of a dedicated team, making high-quality patisserie in our well-established independent bakery.

For experienced candidates there is also the potential for teaching Bakery Classes at Open Bakery Cookery School at a higher hourly rate. Please follow the link for more info: https://openbakery.co.uk/classes

Candidates must

have an excellent eye for detail
take pride in their work
be organised in their work
be reliable and dependable

This position would be ideal for

someone with the necessary qualities looking to attain or further their pastry skills, or
a more experienced pastry chef/baker looking for a new career opportunity

Hours of work:

40hrs/wk, occasionally up to 45hrs
work shifts include Saturdays and occasional Sundays (short shifts)
Shifts are mixed: regular daytime shifts with 2-3 early morning starts (3am-11am).
Higher hourly rate for early mornings and for Sundays

Open Bakery produces high-quality artisan food– (bread, patisserie, and savoury) with an honest and transparent approach.

We are part of a vibrant local community in Kemptown, and have a close bond with our customers. The care we take in our food is reflected in the way we prepare our food, through to the way we treat our staff and care for our customers.

All food is either prepared on the shop premises in one of two kitchens, or down the road where we have a further two kitchens and cookery school.

We have been open since 2011 and our driving force has always been to produce our food to the highest possible consistent standard to maintain trust from our customers.

Open Bakery now sells through two retail outlets, a cookery school and from farmers’ markets around Sussex.

We are constantly striving to improve and enhance the quality of our food, working environment and business practices.
