Overview

We are looking for an experienced, energetic and hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead the front-of-house operation at a busy Italian restaurant.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the restaurant and bar, leading the team by example and ensuring every guest receives excellent service from the moment they arrive.

This role would suit someone personable, organised and confident who enjoys being present on the restaurant floor and thrives in a busy, fast-moving environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and bar
Lead, motivate and support the front-of-house team
Deliver consistently high standards of customer service
Lead by example and maintain a strong presence on the restaurant floor
Manage reservations, table plans and the flow of service
Ensure the restaurant is fully prepared and presented to a high standard before each service
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth communication and efficient service
Conduct team briefings before service and communicate menu changes, specials and important information
Recruit, train and develop front-of-house team members
Create and manage staff rotas while maintaining appropriate staffing levels
Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback and support
Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and effectively
Build positive relationships with guests and encourage repeat visits
Maintain a strong knowledge of the food, wine and drinks menus
Support the development and promotion of new menus, events and seasonal offerings
Oversee stock levels, ordering and stock control for the bar and front of house
Monitor costs, minimise waste and support the commercial performance of the restaurant
Ensure all cash handling, till procedures and end-of-day processes are completed accurately
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout the venue
Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, food safety procedures and health and safety regulations
Support private dining, events and promotional activity where required
Work closely with the owners to continually improve the guest experience and develop the business

Experience and Skills

Previous experience in a Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager or similar senior hospitality role
Experience working within a busy restaurant and bar environment
Strong leadership and people-management skills
Confident managing and developing a front-of-house team
Excellent communication and customer-service skills
Organised, reliable and able to remain calm under pressure
Strong attention to detail
A genuine passion for food, drink and hospitality
Good commercial awareness and an understanding of stock control, labour costs and restaurant operations
Comfortable handling customer feedback and resolving issues professionally
Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and busy periods
