At SMGK International Energy Services, we support energy and industrial organisations through engineering coordination, technical maintenance and reliable project delivery.
We are looking for a Technical Services Manager who can take ownership of engineering support, maintenance performance and technical service delivery. You will work closely with engineers, maintenance teams, project managers, contractors and clients to ensure that equipment, facilities and technical systems remain safe, reliable and operationally effective.
This role is suited to an experienced technical professional who can combine engineering knowledge with team leadership, commercial awareness and service management. You will oversee technical work programmes, resolve operational issues and introduce improvements that strengthen reliability, compliance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Service Delivery: Oversee the delivery of engineering, maintenance and technical support services across assigned contracts and operational sites.
- Team Leadership: Manage engineers, technicians, supervisors and specialist contractors while maintaining clear responsibilities and performance expectations.
- Maintenance Management: Develop and monitor preventive, corrective and condition based maintenance programmes for technical equipment and systems.
- Technical Problem Solving: Investigate equipment failures, recurring faults and service issues and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
- Project Coordination: Lead technical improvement, equipment installation, refurbishment and maintenance projects from planning through completion.
- Resource Planning: Coordinate technical labour, materials, equipment and contractor resources according to operational priorities.
- Client Management: Maintain professional relationships with clients and provide clear updates regarding service performance, technical risks and planned work.
- Quality Control: Ensure that technical activities meet approved specifications, quality procedures and contractual requirements.
- Health and Safety: Maintain safe systems of work and ensure that employees and contractors follow applicable health and safety requirements.
- Contractor Management: Select, coordinate and review specialist contractors while monitoring service quality, costs and compliance.
- Budget Management: Monitor maintenance expenditure, contractor charges, equipment costs and technical service budgets.
- Performance Monitoring: Track equipment reliability, maintenance completion, response times, service failures and other operational measures.
- Risk Management: Identify technical, operational and compliance risks and establish practical mitigation and contingency measures.
- Management Reporting: Prepare reports covering technical performance, maintenance activity, costs, incidents and improvement priorities.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in engineering, industrial maintenance, energy services or technical operations, including substantial supervisory or management responsibility.
- Education: Bachelor degree or recognised professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial equipment, engineering systems, planned maintenance and fault investigation.
- Service Management: Experience delivering technical services against agreed performance standards, schedules and contractual requirements.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage engineers, technicians, contractors and multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Maintenance Planning: Experience developing maintenance schedules, managing work orders and monitoring equipment reliability.
- Commercial Awareness: Ability to manage budgets, contractor expenditure, technical resources and service delivery costs.
- Health and Safety: Practical knowledge of UK workplace safety requirements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Problem Solving: Ability to investigate complex technical issues and coordinate effective corrective solutions.
- Project Management: Experience planning and delivering equipment upgrades, installations and technical improvement projects.
- Communication: Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical matters to clients and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Technology Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computerised maintenance management systems and technical reporting platforms.
- Professional Registration: Chartered Engineer status or progress towards membership of a recognised engineering institution is an advantage.
Pay: £52,000.00-£68,000.00 per year
