Job Introduction
As an Assistant Cook Supervisor for Sodexo at Nishkam School West London,152 Syon Lane Isleworth TW7 5PN, you will support the Cook Manager in overseeing the day-to-day food and beverage operations within the school kitchen. You will play an important role in ensuring that food is prepared, cooked, presented, and served to the highest standards while supporting the team to deliver an excellent customer experience.
Working closely with the Cook Manager, you will help supervise the catering team, maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and in line with company policies and procedures.
As well as this, you will not work unsociable hours and you will get public holidays off, including Christmas!

Support the Cook Manager with the day-to-day running and supervision of the school kitchen and catering operation.
Prepare, cook, present, and serve food to company standards, which may include breakfast, morning break, lunch, and hospitality services.
Assist with supervising and supporting catering staff, ensuring the team works efficiently and maintains high standards.
Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and skills development to catering team members where required.
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to company standards and displayed in an attractive and appealing way.
Ensure each dish is portioned correctly and in line with business requirements.
Maintain excellent standards of customer service, cleanliness, tidiness, and overall presentation.
Adhere to all company compliance requirements, including Food Safety, Health & Safety, Allergen Awareness, COSHH, and HACCP regulations.
Ensure food preparation, cooking, storage, and service areas are kept clean and hygienic at all times.
Complete daily and weekly cleaning duties as instructed by the Cook Manager or line manager.
Ensure all catering communal areas are maintained to a high standard.
Safely remove and dispose of waste from catering areas in accordance with company procedures.
Support stock control, food ordering, and the reduction of food waste where required.
Assist the Cook Manager in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently at all times.
Report any issues relating to food safety, equipment, staffing, or kitchen operations to the Cook Manager or line manager.
Promote a positive team environment and lead by example in maintaining Sodexo’s standards and values.
What you bring:
Must have a Catering qualification – 7061, 7062, or NVQ Level 1/2 (or equivalent).
A minimum of 1 year’s hands-on cooking experience in a busy catering or kitchen environment.
Food Hygiene and Health & Safety training will be provided where required.
Must have experience and be confident in large-scale cooking, ideally preparing meals for up to 1,300 students.
Must have experience following recipes and maintaining consistent food quality and presentation, preferably within a school, education, or similar catering environment.
Must have experience working with fresh produce and quality ingredients.
A good understanding of the importance of following Food Safety, Health & Safety, Allergen Awareness, COSHH, and HACCP procedures.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines within a busy kitchen environment.
A professional approach, with the ability to lead by example and maintain a positive attitude.
Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support and work alongside other members of the catering team.
Hold a Basic Food Handling/Food Hygiene Certificate or be willing to obtain one.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, customer service, and kitchen hygiene.
