Full job description

Flexiteek are one of the world’s largest manufacturer of synthetic teak decking (Flexiteek) and fendering systems (under the Wilks’ brand) with headquarters in Tollesbury, Essex.

We serve over 200 leading boat brands worldwide and with a wide range of specialist profiles helping to protect every type of board. In-house tooling facilities ensure that we offer customers added support from the early stage of product development through to manufacturer. The ability to extrude custom-made profiles in a spectrum of colours to our customers’ requirements ensure that we are able to meet our promises and deliver the highest performing products possible.

As part of our ongoing growth strategy we are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager reporting to Chris Pannell, European Sales Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for not only managing and developing our existing network of international customers but also to identify, generate and follow through new sales opportunities for Flexiteek and Wilks.

Role Responsibilities

To identify new markets and opportunities with both Flexiteek and Wilks.

To drive Wilks’ sales forward by looking at existing markets (marine and shopfitting) and other new industrial areas.

Identify areas where new distributors should be appointed for both Flexiteek and Wilks.

Assist and manage our existing distributors with sales strategies and OEM boat builder development.

Taking ownership of a portfolio of existing, lapsed and new clients.

Make regular contact with distributor networks.

Assist with product development and become competent and knowledgeable in our products to be able to provide technical support.

UK focused initially but with an expectation for UK and European travel. This will include attendance at trade shows as well as an expectation to travel to customer sites up to 3 days per week. Travel may comprise overnight stays and the occasional weekend.

Skills/experience

A strong sales background is essential with demonstrated success in a similar role. Marine industry experience is not essential.

Strong commercial acumen with a natural ability to spot opportunities and convert business.

Highly literate and numerate.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to be proactive and work in a collaborative manner.

Advanced computer skills in MS Office and other sales management tools.

Other Information

Successful candidate will ideally live in or around the Southampton/Portsmouth area.

There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to make occasional visits to the Flexiteek head office in Tollesbury, Essex.

Contract: Full-time/permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday

Death in Service x2.5 of basic salary

Discretionary annual bonus scheme

25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Company sick pay of 5 paid sick days per calendar year accruing to a maximum of 20 days per calendar year if untaken
