Full job description

Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £95-£105 per day (Depending on experience and/or qualifications)
Contract: Long Term Supply - Temporary

Source Supply are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to work at a Primary School in Rotherham.

You will be required to support pupils with SEND in Year 5. Experience supporting children with Autism and ADHD is required. You will be holding intervention groups to help support engagement with Literacy and Numeracy alongside providing additional support within the classroom.

The role is required on a full-time basis and is due to start in September 2026.

The Role

As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers to provide support to pupils across the primary age range. Your responsibilities may include:

Supporting pupils with their learning and development.
Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities and preparation.
Providing additional support to pupils who may have additional needs.
Promoting positive behaviour and creating an inclusive learning environment.
Helping to maintain a safe, engaging and positive classroom atmosphere.
Supporting the wider school team as required.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Enthusiastic, caring and committed to supporting children.
Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Confident working with children across the primary age range.
Patient, adaptable and able to respond to different learning needs.
Reliable, professional and able to use their initiative.
Experienced as a Teaching Assistant or keen to gain further experience within a primary school environment.

A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or previous experience working with children would be advantageous, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant transferable experience.

The Role

· Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS lessons and activities.

· Working with individual pupils and small groups to promote learning and development.

· Encouraging children’s social, emotional and educational progress.

· Assisting with classroom preparation and maintaining a safe, stimulating learning environment.

· Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Key Responsibilities

· Support the learning and development of children within the Nursery setting

· Deliver engaging activities in line with the EYFS framework

· Promote children’s social, emotional, language, and physical development

· Support children through play-based learning opportunities

· Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff

· Assist with observations, assessments, and learning records

· Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils at all times

Requirements
Salary is dependent on experience, qualifications and training. All successful applicants will:

· Experience in working with children in a school or specialist setting

· A nurturing, patient and consistent approach

· Have referenceable experience working in a school setting.

· Be passionate about education, with a desire to help young people thrive.

· Be an excellent communicator with a positive, can-do attitude.

· Ideally hold a full, clean driving licence and have access to vehicle.
