Sales Account Manager

Telford | Full Time | Bonus | Company Car

VA Technology designs and delivers high value world-class bespoke manufacturing and automation systems for some of the world's most respected aerospace, medical and automotive manufacturers.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an ambitious Sales Account Manager to strengthen our sales department. This role is ideal for someone with a technical background who enjoys engaging with customers, uncovering opportunities and developing strategic partnerships.

You'll be responsible for managing and growing both new and existing key customer relationships, identifying opportunities for new projects and working closely with our engineering teams to develop innovative solutions. With sales cycles often involving complex, high-value projects, this position is focused on relationship-building, solution development and customer engagement rather than hard selling.

What you'll be doing

Building and developing relationships with customers across the UK and internationally through regular site visits and face-to-face meetings
Acting as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the sales process
Understanding customer manufacturing requirements and developing technical solutions, system concepts and project specifications to meet their needs
Identifying, nurturing and progressing opportunities through often lengthy and complex sales cycles
Preparing technical and commercial proposals for bespoke engineering solutions and tender and bid submissions for major engineering projects
Coordinating sales and promotional activities across international markets
Carrying out capacity planning and analysis of automation systems
Collaborating with colleagues across our UK, US and China operations to deliver customer-focused solutions
Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of company products, market developments and competitor activity

What we're looking for

Experience in technical or engineering sales/ account management role or within a customer-facing engineering role
A natural relationship builder who enjoys working closely with customers and developing long-term partnerships
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop business opportunities
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong engineering knowledge and technical problem-solving ability
Self-motivated, resilient and able to maintain focus throughout long sales cycles
Comfortable travelling regularly within the UK and internationally - passport and drivers licence a pre-requisite of the job.
Confident communicating with senior managers, decision makers and technical stakeholders
