Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

The postholder will work as the lead of the Park Ranger Service in delivering a comprehensive service in all Aberdeen Parks, to conserve, enhance and promote the appropriate use of the park by members of the public and other interest groups. To ensure the health and safety of users of the park and the enforcement of management regulations. To provide opportunities to learn about the outdoor environment.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Must have a further qualification in Countryside Management, Rural Studies, Amenity Horticulture, Environment Sciences or equivalent subject to National Certificate or equivalent.
Must be physically fit to undertake the full range of duties of the post

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Ability to communicate with a wide range of people including school children.
The willingness to use The Councils digital platforms in relation to HR (CoreHr)
Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
The ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
The ability to organise and prioritise workloads to deal with simultaneous demands and to achieve deadlines.
The ability to work proactively and with limited direct supervision, while at the same time recognising when matters need to be referred to the Line Manager.
