Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and customer-focused Shop Assistant/Cashier to join our dynamic team at Best One.

In this role, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the store, providing excellent customer service and ensuring the shop remains well stocked, organised, and presented to a high standard.

This is a busy, hands-on role suited to someone with previous experience working within a convenience store, supermarket, or similar retail environment who is confident dealing with customers and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide attentive assistance throughout their shopping journey
Operate tills accurately, handle transactions efficiently, and process payments using various methods
Replenish stock and ensure shelves and displays are kept well-stocked and presented
Rotate stock, check expiry dates, and help minimise waste
Assist customers with product enquiries and provide appropriate recommendations
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the store
Ensure the till and checkout areas remain clean, organised, and well-stocked
Follow all store policies and procedures, including age-restricted sales and Challenge 25
Manage time effectively to ensure quick service during busy periods while maintaining accuracy
Supporting opening and closing duties where required
Working independently and as part of the wider store team

About you:

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous retail, supermarket, or convenience store experience
s confident operating a till and handling cash
Has excellent customer service and communication skills
Is reliable, punctual, and takes pride in their work
Can work efficiently and remain organised in a busy retail environment
Has good communication and customer service skills
Can use their own initiative and work independently when required
Understands the importance of excellent store standards and customer service

Previous experience within a convenience store, supermarket or similar retail environment is essential.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
