Do you have a passion for people and operational safety? Are you looking for a fast-paced operation, that will utilise your operational and people leadership experience? Are you keen to shape the future of transport operations for one of the UK’s largest retailers?

Here at GXO, we our recruiting for a Transport Teams Manager to join our team in Sherburn, for our customer Sainsburys. Within our 550,000 sq. ft multi temperature distribution centre, you’ll play a key role in our transport operation, with responsibility for the effective and timely despatch to our retail and convenience stores, using the customers latest integrated Transport Management System.

The role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis. Shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, 6:00 to 18:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £35,024 per annum, and 23.5 days annual leave (inclusive bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts

What you’ll do on a typical day:

Operational performance, achieving weekly and monthly targets through effective use of transport systems (Integrated Transport Management System and Yard Smart)
Fleet & compliance management, overseeing driver and transport colleagues, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, Road Traffic Act, and health & safety regulations
Communication and shift briefings, being clear with expectations, sharing success and performance updates, company news and maintaining communication with stores
Team leadership & union relations, motivating and guide the transport team while fostering positive relationships with unions and their representatives
Service excellence & flexibility, delivering first-class service to the store network and undertake additional duties to support smooth departmental operations

What you need to succeed at GXO:

Fast-paced operational experience with knowledge in transport legislation
Experience of leading/managing a team, with focus on colleague engagement
Passionate to find opportunity and use initiative
IT savvy with strong PC skills
General awareness of health and safety, with promoting best-in-class delivery
