Full job description

Access Platform Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Access Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This role is primarily focused on major repairs, diagnostics, refurbishment and fault finding on vehicle-mounted access platforms and associated equipment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest possible standards, supporting operational uptime and delivering excellent service to our customers.

Reporting to:

Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities

Carry out major repairs, refurbishment work and complex fault finding on vehicle-mounted access platforms.

Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and safely.

Complete maintenance and repair work in line with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.

Communicate effectively with the Depot Manager regarding defects, unsafe equipment or additional repair requirements.

Use diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues quickly.

Accurately complete job records using the company handheld tablet system, including labour allocation and parts usage.

Ensure all vehicle statuses are updated correctly and in real time.

Support workshop efficiency through effective stock control and reporting of parts usage.

Identify and report warranty repairs or potential customer recharge work to the Service Department.

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.

Follow all company policies and procedures outlined within the Employee Handbook.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience repairing and maintaining mobile or vehicle-mounted access platforms.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulics, auto electrics and mechanical systems.

IPAF Competent Assessed Person (CAP) qualification preferred.

Relevant engineering or maintenance qualifications with experience gained within the plant hire, powered access or rental sector.

Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively under pressure.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

A proactive, reliable and safety-focused approach to work.
