About the role

Stock Control Assistant / PI Operative

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, organised, and proactive Stock Control Assistant / PI Operative to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to think outside the box in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of this role is to maintain the accuracy and integrity of stock held within the depot by completing a 20-day perpetual inventory (PI) cycle, while supporting the day-to-day management of warehouse stock, including date-sensitive products.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Complete regular stock counts as part of the 20-day PI cycle.
Check stock condition and monitor best-before dates (BBD).
Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, ensuring the Warehouse Management System (WMS) remains accurate and up to date.
Carry out stock checks in both picking and bulk storage locations.
Investigate Hub & Spoke and Inter-Branch Transfer (IBT) discrepancies.
Process credits and invoicing accurately.
Respond promptly to enquiries from suppliers, customers, other depots, and internal departments.
Manage damaged stock and customer returns.
Action quarantine stock activities as required.
Support the Stock Manager and wider Stock Team with daily operational activities.
Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with company procedures and health and safety standards.

About You

Previous experience in stock control, warehousing, inventory management, or a similar role would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Windows-based systems.
Flexibility to meet the demands of the role.

Forklift experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Please note that the role involves a degree of physical activity, and good attendance and timekeeping are essential requirements.
