Full job description

Two Marketing Assistant positions are available following the acquisition of a new client within the sports sector. This is an opportunity to work on live campaigns from the beginning and develop practical experience alongside an experienced Marketing Manager.

You will contribute to real client projects rather than spending your first several months only observing or completing basic administration. Working closely with the Marketing Manager, business development, events and content creation teams, you will help plan campaigns, research audiences, prepare marketing materials and review performance. You will receive structured guidance while being encouraged to contribute ideas and gradually lead smaller areas of campaign activity.

About the opportunity

The company has secured a new sports-sector client, bringing additional campaign budgets, projects and opportunities for the marketing department to expand. As a result, two positions have been created within the team.

This role is suitable for someone looking to begin or continue building a professional career in marketing.

Previous industry experience would be useful but is not essential. Experience gained through internships, placements, part-time employment, volunteering, personal projects or transferable roles will also be considered.

The position is practical and varied, combining campaign coordination, research, content support, reporting and event-related marketing activity. You will work under the direction of the Marketing Manager but will be trusted to contribute suggestions, ask questions and take responsibility for specific tasks as your experience develops.

What you will be doing

Support the Marketing Manager with the planning, scheduling and delivery of marketing campaigns for the new sports-sector client and other company projects.
Research target audiences, competitors, market developments and customer behaviour to help the team shape campaign messaging and choose suitable marketing activity.
Prepare campaign briefs, project timelines, content schedules, meeting notes and progress updates, ensuring deadlines and responsibilities remain clearly documented.
Work with the content creation team to develop campaign concepts, written copy, presentations, social media content and other promotional materials.
Assist the events team with promotional planning, event communications, campaign materials, supplier coordination and on-site activity where required.
Liaise with the business development team to ensure marketing activity reflects client objectives, commercial priorities and potential new-business opportunities.
Monitor campaign performance against agreed measures, help compile reports and present useful observations or recommendations to the Marketing Manager.
Take responsibility for smaller campaign tasks or project sections as your knowledge develops, including coordinating contributors, tracking deadlines and raising potential issues early.

A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within marketing and building practical knowledge across several areas of the profession.
An understanding of basic marketing principles gained through previous experience, placements, internships, employment, volunteering or independent projects.
The ability to contribute original ideas while listening to feedback and adjusting your work when necessary.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with careful attention to spelling, presentation and detail.
Good organisation and the ability to manage several tasks, priorities and deadlines without losing sight of quality.
Commercial curiosity and an interest in understanding why particular campaigns, messages or channels produce stronger results.
A reliable and hardworking approach, with the resilience to learn from feedback and maintain a consistently high standard of work.

You do not need several years of professional marketing experience. The company is interested in identifying talented individuals who can be coached and developed. What matters most is your willingness to learn, the effort you put into your work and your ability to apply feedback.

Development and progression

You will receive regular coaching from the Marketing Manager and practical exposure to business development, content creation and event activity.

Your development will include involvement in live client campaigns, support with campaign planning and reporting, and increasing responsibility as you demonstrate strong performance and sound judgement.

There may also be an opportunity to progress towards a Marketing Executive position based on your performance, demonstrated capability and the future requirements of the business.
