ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Fire & Security Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of Fire Detection and Electronic Security projects from initial handover through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
The role will involve managing projects across Fire Alarm Systems, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm Systems, Disabled Refuge Systems, Public Address Systems and network infrastructure for a wide range of commercial and industrial clients.
Reporting to the Commercial Director you will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including planning, programming, procurement, financial performance, resource allocation, subcontractor management, client liaison and final handover.
You will work closely with customers, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company procedures, contractual requirements, relevant legislation, British Standards and industry best practice.
You must demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant British and European Standards, including BS 5839, BS 7671, BS EN 50174, NSI Codes of Practice and other applicable legislation relating to Fire & Security systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Project Management & Delivery
Manage multiple Fire & Security projects from contract award through to final
completion and handover.
Develop project programmes and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and
within agreed timescales.
Coordinate engineering resources, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project
objectives.
Monitor project progress, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
where required.
Ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets and monitor project
profitability.
Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors and internal
departments.
Manage project variations, quotations and additional works.
Ensure all project documentation is completed accurately and maintained
throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure successful commissioning, client demonstrations and project handover.
Resolve project issues quickly whilst maintaining customer satisfaction.
Commercial & Financial Responsibilities
Monitor project costs, labour and material expenditure.
Review project budgets and report financial performance to senior management.
Authorise purchase orders and ensure materials are procured in line with project
requirements.
Review subcontractor quotations and manage subcontractor performance.
Assist with project forecasting and resource planning.
Support the preparation of quotations for project variations and remedial works.
Engineering & Technical Management
Provide technical guidance and support to engineers throughout project delivery.
Review system designs, drawings and technical specifications.
Ensure installation and commissioning activities comply with project specifications
and relevant British Standards.
Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers regarding technical support and product
selection.
Ensure commissioning documentation, certification and as-installed information is
completed correctly.
Support engineers in resolving technical issues encountered on site.
Customer Relationship Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants and
contractors.
Act as the primary point of contact throughout project delivery.
Provide regular project updates and communicate any programme changes.
Manage customer expectations professionally and proactively.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained throughout each project.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across all projects.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company Health, Safety,
Environmental and Quality procedures.
Review and approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of
Work.
Ensure engineers and subcontractors comply with company and client Health &
Safety requirements.
Carry out site audits and inspections where required.
Report hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses in accordance with company
procedures.
Ensure company vehicles, plant, tools and equipment are used safely and
responsibly.
Adhere to all responsibilities outlined within the Company Health, Safety &
Environmental Policy Manual.
Team Leadership
Plan and allocate workloads across engineering teams.
Provide leadership, coaching and technical support to engineers.
Monitor engineer performance and identify training requirements.
Support recruitment, onboarding and development of engineering staff.
Conduct toolbox talks, site briefings and project meetings.
Promote continuous improvement across project delivery processes.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all project records are maintained accurately using company systems.
Review commissioning certificates, O&M manuals and handover documentation.
Ensure projects comply with contractual obligations, company procedures and
industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of project progress, variations and customer
communications.
Support internal and external audits where required
General
Complete all company documentation accurately and within required timescales.
Maintain a professional appearance and uphold ACEDA Ltd’s reputation when
representing the company.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Engineering team.
Attend training courses and maintain relevant industry qualifications and
competencies.
Undertake additional duties as reasonably required to meet business needs.
