Full job description

We are seeking an organised, professional, and resilient Receptionist to join our busy Criminal Defence practice.

Key Responsibilities

Greet clients, visitors, and legal professionals in a professional and welcoming manner.
Answer and manage a high volume of incoming telephone calls and emails.
Take accurate messages and direct enquiries to the appropriate solicitor or team member.
Book client appointments and maintain solicitors' diaries.
Maintain accurate client records using the firm's case management system.
Prepare and send routine legal correspondence and documentation.
Process incoming and outgoing mail and courier deliveries.
Assist with court listings and solicitor schedules.
Ensure reception, waiting and meeting rooms remain tidy and presentable.
Handle confidential information with discretion and in accordance with GDPR and firm policies.
Provide general administrative support to solicitors and legal support staff as required.

Skills and Experience

Previous experience in a busy reception or administrative role would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.
Good telephone manner.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Competent in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Environment

This is a busy and demanding role involving frequent interruptions, competing priorities, and strict deadlines. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment where urgent matters arise throughout the day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £22,500.00 per year
