We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, prototyping, analyzing, and developing mechanical systems and components. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative mechanical solutions and support the complete product development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through prototyping, testing, and production.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Mechanical Design & Development
- Design and develop mechanical components, systems, assemblies, and products based on project requirements.
- Create and optimize detailed 3D models, mechanical parts, and assemblies using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar platforms.
- Conduct engineering analysis and simulations using tools such as ANSYS to validate design performance and reliability.
- Develop designs that meet functional, performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
2. Prototyping & Testing
- Develop and assist with the fabrication of mechanical prototypes.
- Conduct functional, performance, and reliability testing of prototypes and mechanical systems.
- Identify design issues during testing and implement appropriate engineering solutions.
- Ensure prototypes and final designs meet required performance and safety standards.
3. Product Improvement & Optimization
- Evaluate existing mechanical systems and components to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend design modifications to improve functionality, performance, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product development lifecycle.
4. Engineering Documentation
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, engineering specifications, and design documentation.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and engineering reports.
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained according to company standards.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure successful integration of mechanical components and systems.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to resolve design, manufacturing, and integration challenges.
6. Quality Assurance & Engineering Analysis
- Support quality assurance activities by validating mechanical designs through simulations, stress analysis, and physical testing.
- Investigate design and product quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure designs meet applicable quality, reliability, and performance requirements.
7. Project Support
- Support senior engineers and project managers in executing mechanical engineering projects.
- Assist in planning and completing engineering activities within defined timelines, budgets, and project requirements.
- Provide technical input during project planning, development, and implementation.
8. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems in products, prototypes, equipment, and systems.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and develop effective corrective and preventive solutions.
- Provide technical support during product development, testing, and production.
9. Vendor & Supplier Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding mechanical components, materials, and technical specifications.
- Review supplier drawings, specifications, and samples to ensure compliance with design requirements.
- Support the procurement team in identifying technically suitable components and suppliers.
10. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure mechanical designs comply with applicable industry standards, engineering codes, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
- Incorporate appropriate safety considerations into product and system designs.
- Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory and technical requirements.
11. Continuous Learning & Innovation
- Stay updated on emerging mechanical engineering technologies, materials, CAD/CAE tools, and manufacturing techniques.
- Explore innovative approaches to improve product design, engineering processes, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Continuously enhance technical knowledge and engineering capabilities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of engineering analysis and simulation tools such as ANSYS.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
- Ability to prepare and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) principles.
- Experience with mechanical simulations, stress analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, supplier coordination, and quality control procedures.
- Experience in product development from concept through production.

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
