Job summary

We are recruiting for an Internal Communications Manager to join our Internal Communications team.

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, the Internal Communications Manager will lead the planning and delivery of high-profile internal communications and engagement campaigns, including communications relating to organisational change. This is a pivotal role that supports the organisations strategic priorities by helping to build a skilled, informed and engaged workforce. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you will ensure colleagues are kept up to date, have opportunities to provide feedback and feel connected to key business objectives.

The successful candidate will develop and deliver communication and engagement plans, provide strategic advice to stakeholders and proactively identify opportunities to enhance internal communications. They will also support senior leader and corporate communications, working alongside the Head and Deputy Head of Internal Communications to deliver impactful messaging across a range of policy and business areas. Strong stakeholder management, excellent communication skills and experience of delivering engaging internal communications campaigns are essential.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles , and will assess your Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills.

Application and Shortlisting:

The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential/desirable criteria as set out in the job specification.

You will also be asked to provide information within the Employer/Activity History section of the application form. This information is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV setting out your career history (this will/may be used in the sifting process).

If we receive a high number of applications, an initial sift will be conducted on the following two criteria:

Experience of identifying and generating engaging internal news in a complex organisation.
Ability to design and produce engaging communications, including digital content, newsletters and webinars, with fluency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Applicants who meet the initial eligibility criteria will be invited to progress to the next stage of the selection process. If required, a further full sift will be undertaken, where all applications that passed the initial sift will be assessed against the complete set of essential criteria outlined in the job description.

Assessment and Interview

Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlist stage will be invited to an assessment (if applicable) and interview where you will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and on the technical/experience skills as detailed in the job specification.

Assessment and interviews will be held during the week commencing 10 August 2026 at 10 South Colonnade, London, Piccadilly Gate, Manchester or remote via Microsoft Teams.

The interview format (in person or remote) will be confirmed closer to the assessment and interview date.

Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.

Security

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.
