Job Title: Pastoral Coordinator

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role
At Ashley Park School, we’re looking for an experienced and passionate Pastoral Coordinator to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the culture, wellbeing and behaviour of our school.
This is a role where your influence will be felt every day. You’ll lead our pastoral approach, champion positive behaviour and help pupils develop the emotional regulation, resilience and confidence they need to succeed.
Working alongside the Headteacher, teachers, therapists and wider professionals, you’ll bring together the right support around each pupil, helping them overcome barriers and re-engage with learning. You’ll also have the opportunity to coach and develop colleagues, strengthen whole-school practice and help create an environment where pupils feel safe, understood and ready to achieve.

What You’ll Do
- Lead pastoral and behaviour provision across the school, developing consistent, trauma-informed and relational approaches that improve outcomes for pupils.
- Support and develop staff, coaching colleagues in positive behaviour support, restorative practice and strategies that help pupils regulate and return to learning.
- Champion pupil wellbeing, using behaviour, attendance and wellbeing information to identify barriers, respond to need and drive meaningful improvement.
- Build strong partnerships with families, therapists, external agencies and professionals to ensure pupils receive joined-up and personalised support.
- Lead through challenging situations, providing calm, confident support while maintaining high expectations and positive relationships.
- Contribute to safeguarding and school improvement as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and member of the Senior Leadership Team.
What We’re Looking For
- Has experience in pastoral leadership, behaviour, safeguarding, wellbeing or specialist education.
- Understands how trauma, communication and emotional needs can impact behaviour and learning.
- Builds genuine, trusting relationships with children and young people and knows how to turn these relationships into positive change.
- Is confident leading and supporting colleagues, with the ability to influence practice across a school.
- Remains calm, consistent and solution-focused when situations are challenging.
- Can work effectively with families, professionals and external agencies.
- Is ambitious for every pupil and committed to helping them achieve more than they thought possible.

Ashley Park School is a brand-new independent specialist school in Epsom, Surrey, for autistic young people aged 5–19, with a capacity for 60 pupils.
