Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our busy hospitality team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting the culinary team to deliver excellent service. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic restaurant or hotel setting, with a focus on food preparation, cleaning, and assisting with basic kitchen duties. The Kitchen Porter will be responsible for ensuring the kitchen remains hygienic, well-stocked, and operational at all times.

Responsibilities

Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to high standards
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or kitchen staff
Maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas within the kitchen
Supporting the organisation of stock and ensuring supplies are stored correctly
Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety standards
Ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times
Supporting the culinary team during busy periods by providing general assistance as needed
Helping to set up and clear down workstations before and after service shifts

Qualifications

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of food hygiene standards and safety procedures is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and kitchen operations
Reliable with a positive attitude and good teamwork skills
Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting heavy items when required
