Payroll Officer – Financial
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week, Mon – Fri (Hybrid: 3 days remote, 2 days office)

We're recruiting a Payroll Officer to support the Finance team with payroll and pension administration. This is a key role, ideal for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and confident working with financial systems in a fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
As a Payroll Officer, you'll administer and maintain NCHA Group payroll and pension systems and records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and timely delivery of payroll services.
What you'll be doing:
- Payroll administration – Administer and maintain payroll and pension systems and records, including colleague expenses, statutory payments, and absence-related processes.
- Payroll processing – Ensure payroll transactions and records are complete, accurate, and processed within agreed timescales.
- Financial controls – Maintain and reconcile payroll control accounts, including net pay and pension accounts, taking corrective action where required.
- Data analysis – Extract and analyse payroll and financial data and prepare accurate reports, returns, and supporting documentation.
- Year-end procedures – Support payroll period-end and year-end processes, ensuring all required documentation is completed by agreed deadlines.
- Audit and compliance support – Assist with statutory and financial accounts and provide information and support to internal and external auditors.
- Stakeholder liaison – Respond to complex payroll queries promptly and professionally, maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.
- Issue resolution – Identify issues and work with internal and external stakeholders to implement appropriate corrective action.
- Operational development – Contribute to payroll system improvements, business transformation, and the development of procedures and guidance.
- Record management – Maintain accurate manual and electronic records and ensure reconciliations are completed regularly.
- Relationship management – Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Team support – Provide cover for other roles within the directorate when required.

Must-Have Requirements:
- Proven experience in payroll administration and processing
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Experience maintaining financial or payroll records and completing reconciliations
- Ability to analyse payroll and financial data and produce accurate reports
- Good understanding of statutory payroll requirements and relevant regulations
- Ability to manage confidential information appropriately and comply with data protection requirements
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to identify issues and take appropriate corrective action
- Proficiency in using computerised payroll and financial systems
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
- Previous experience using iTrent payroll software
- Experience working within a finance, payroll or pensions function in a large organisation
- Experience supporting payroll system improvements or business transformation projects
- Experience assisting with internal or external audits
