Boulders Cheltenham is an indoor bouldering centre based in Cheltenham, and has a vibrant and dedicated team whose mission is to:

Climbing offers opportunities to stay active, be healthier and happier, meet new people, challenge ourselves both physically and mentally and get out and explore the wider outdoors. It spans age, ability and background and offers an ever evolving challenge and opportunities to explore. Indoor climbing is the simple, accessible entry into this pastime. Start in your local centre with a friendly team providing all the advice, mentoring and equipment. From here, join our community and watch the adventure unfold.

Description

This is a ‘whole of service’ role. Alongside other Duty Managers, you will be responsible for the delivery of our entire service to our customers. Working on a Rota, the team will be responsible for day-to-day operations, following Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the safe and successful running of the centre. You will be responsible for the organisation of the casual team of instructors and front of house assistants who are on shift with you. You will be supported by a Head Office Team.

The role will involve:

Running the "front of house" operations, including checking customers into the centre, preparing food and drink, selling products and answering enquiries.
Ensuring the centre is clean and in good repair.
Managing the staff rotas including finding cover for sickness and unavailability.
Ordering café and shop stock, keeping the café and shop clean and presentable, and managing stock takes.
Helping to manage the professional behaviour and morale of part time or casual employees
Opening and closing the facility, acting as a key holder, and following Standard Operating Procedures including Duty Handovers and Floorwalking.
Reporting and liaising with the Site Manager and Head Office on a regular basis
Providing first aid and health and safety provisions.
Assisting with the organising, promoting and running of regular events that support and promote our community of climbers.
Outreach - all of our roles include sales generation. This includes signposting at the end of sessions about what customers can do next, to chatting to customers about the benefits of memberships, to emailing local organisations to arrange sessions.

Requirements

Essential requirements:

A good understanding of the climbing industry and community.
Committed to providing high standards of performance.
Strong Organisational skills.
Strong customer service, good communication and reporting skills.
Accountability and a proactive approach to when things go wrong.
Committed to providing high standards of performance.
Able to work as a part of a team to achieve the centre’s overall objectives.
Pro-active approach towards customer service with demonstrable experience of dealing with the public.
Self-motivated, hardworking and able to deal with challenges.

Desired requirements:

First Aid at Work
CWI Award or BWI Award
Experience of working within a climbing centre

Contracted 30 hours per week with options for overtime when needed
