Electroverse is looking for a talented, passionate Software Engineer to join our team and help build the foundations of the global EV transition.
We’re making electric vehicle public charging simple, by building the giant, virtual charging platform of the future. In just five years, Octopus Electroverse has become Europe’s largest eMobility charging network, with over 1.4 million connected electric vehicle chargers globally across 79 countries. Our customer ecosystem spans web, iOS, Android, CarPlay, Android Auto & Automotive OS.
But this is just the start: we’re busy expanding internationally, growing our Charge Point Operator and OEM partners, and scaling our Octopus Fleet B2B proposition - all in the name of making public EV charging super simple for our customers. Electroverse is a cross-functional team of product, engineering, commercial, operations and marketing, all sharing a passion for shifting the industry towards EVs.
You’ll join the Core squad - the team running the technical foundations of everything Electroverse does. Working alongside our Technical Product Manager and backend team, you will help develop the critical logic and resilient platform infrastructure that powers our B2C, B2B and API features.
Our work spans a broad and dynamic remit - from integrating new and supporting existing CPOs using our partner portal to improving the reliability of the charging experience, implementing bespoke pricing solutions, and driving architectural efficiency.
You’ll have the chance to work on highly impactful projects, fueling product innovation in a fast-moving industry and influencing how the back-end scales to keep Electroverse at the forefront.
- Help us build and refine critical paths, enhancing the key flows that keep a system of hundreds of thousands of OCPI charging sessions, locations and receipts running smoothly.
- Influence the evolution of our highly complex Tariffs & Pricing logic, improving our discounts and price offering for our customers.
- Enable us to build quickly but robustly, using best practices in observability, data analysis and defensive programming, allowing us to safely scale our CPO integrations globally.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to break down complex problems, understand feasibility, and propose creative technical solutions that deliver a market-leading product.
- The passion to create something amazing in the climate space, and the mindset to learn and grow in a rapidly scaling business.
- 2+ years commercial experience with Python.
- An ability to write robust and fault-tolerant secure software
- Good understanding of Databases and data architecture.
- Proficient understanding of Git
- Good communication skills, with an ability to consider product vision and propose creative technical solutions within a team.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Experience with Web Frameworks - preferably Django
- Experience building RESTful APIs
- Experience with building, monitoring and debugging distributed systems
- Experience working within a cross functional team and communicating across the whole software stack
- An understanding of the EV public charging experience
- Experience with pricing or billing systems would be helpful, but not required.
