About the Role

Manchester is a leading centre for engineering, manufacturing and industrial innovation, supported by a diverse network of infrastructure, construction and energy businesses. At Wire Rope Solutions Engineering Services, we provide engineered lifting solutions, wire rope systems, inspection services and technical support for customers across multiple industrial sectors.

We are looking for a Quality and Compliance Manager who can take ownership of the company's quality management system, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement programmes. You will work closely with engineering, production, procurement, operations and client teams to ensure that products and services consistently meet customer expectations, contractual requirements and applicable industry standards.

This role is suited to an experienced quality professional who can combine technical knowledge with strong leadership and process improvement skills. You will oversee audits, investigate quality issues, manage corrective actions and promote a culture of operational excellence throughout the organisation. Quality and compliance managers commonly lead internal audits, risk management, corrective action programmes and quality system improvements aligned with recognised standards such as ISO 9001.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System: Develop, implement and maintain the company's quality management system and associated procedures.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, engineering standards, contractual obligations and company policies.

Internal Auditing: Plan, conduct and oversee internal quality audits while coordinating external certification and surveillance audits.

Quality Assurance: Monitor product quality throughout procurement, inspection, manufacturing, testing and service delivery activities.

Corrective and Preventive Actions: Lead root cause investigations and manage corrective and preventive action programmes to prevent recurring issues.

Supplier Quality: Evaluate supplier performance, conduct supplier quality reviews and support supplier improvement initiatives.

Document Control: Maintain quality documentation, engineering records, procedures and compliance registers.

Risk Management: Identify operational and compliance risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.

Performance Monitoring: Track quality measures, nonconformities, audit findings, customer feedback and continuous improvement activities.

Training: Deliver quality and compliance training to employees and promote best practices across the business.

Customer Support: Respond to customer quality concerns and coordinate investigations, reporting and resolution activities.

Cross Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, procurement and commercial teams to support consistent quality performance.

Management Reporting: Prepare regular reports covering quality performance, compliance status, audit outcomes and improvement initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

Experience: At least 6 years of experience in quality assurance, quality management, compliance or engineering operations, including management responsibility.

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management or a related discipline.

Quality Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems, audit processes and continuous improvement methods.

Compliance Knowledge: Practical understanding of engineering standards, regulatory compliance and operational governance.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead quality teams, coordinate audits and influence operational improvement across multiple departments.

Analytical Skills: Ability to investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

Supplier Management: Experience evaluating supplier quality, conducting assessments and monitoring supplier performance.

Communication: Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organisational levels.

Technology Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, quality management software, document control systems and reporting platforms.

Organisation: Ability to manage multiple audits, projects, deadlines and compliance activities in a fast paced environment.

Continuous Improvement: Experience implementing practical improvements that strengthen product quality, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Professional Certification: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ, CQI or another recognised quality management qualification is an advantage.

Pay: £48,000.00-£62,000.00 per year
