Full-time and part-time | Cardiff | Evening and weekend shifts available | Hours agreed before offer
THE ROLE
This is an all-round restaurant role for people who enjoy variety and teamwork. You will rotate between welcoming and seating guests, waiting tables, running food and drinks, working behind the bar and keeping guest and service areas clean, stocked and ready.
We are looking for flexible front-of-house generalists, not people who want to work in only one station. Everyone supports the full service according to the rota and the needs of the restaurant.
You must be flexible to work across any of our three Cardiff restaurant sites. Your rota may include different sites according to business needs, and your agreed shifts will show where you are working.
Previous experience helps, but reliability, pace and a genuine interest in guests matter more. We provide paid training on our menu, table service, bar service, ordering and payment systems, allergens and restaurant procedures.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Welcome and seat guests and help manage bookings and queues.
- Take responsibility for an allocated section when required.
- Explain menus, specials, wines, cocktails and other drinks accurately.
- Follow the restaurant’s allergen and dietary-information process before placing orders.
- Take accurate orders and communicate changes clearly to the kitchen and bar.
- Serve food and drinks promptly, check back with guests and clear tables.
- Work behind the bar: prepare and serve beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and cocktails to our recipes and standards.
- Handle bills, payments and the till accurately.
- Restock fridges, glassware, service stations and other front-of-house supplies.
- Clean and reset tables, bar areas, service stations and guest areas throughout the shift.
- Complete opening, closing and cleaning duties.
- Step into whichever front-of-house area needs support during busy service.
- Follow food-safety, licensing, responsible-service and health-and-safety procedures.
THE MUST-HAVES
- You are willing and able to rotate between front of house, table service, bar work and cleaning duties.
- You are comfortable learning every part of the role rather than working in only one specialist station.
- You are willing and able to work across any of our three Cardiff restaurant sites as required.
- A warm, confident approach to guests.
- Clear communication and teamwork.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Calm, organised work during busy services.
- Availability for the evening and weekend shifts agreed with you.
- Working English sufficient for orders, allergens and safety procedures.
- You meet the legal requirements for serving alcohol in the UK.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- You arrive ready for every agreed shift and communicate early if a genuine problem arises.
- You move confidently between the floor, bar and other front-of-house duties as service requires.
- You work to the same service, bar and cleaning standards at each site.
- Orders, drinks, bills and payments are accurate.
- Guests receive attentive service without feeling rushed.
- Allergen questions follow the correct process and are never guessed.
- Tables, the bar and service areas remain clean, stocked and ready.
- You support colleagues without waiting to be asked when another area becomes busy.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Base pay from £13 per hour.
- A share of service charge where applicable under the restaurant’s tronc policy.
- Full-time and part-time roles, with expected hours agreed before offer.
- Paid training covering the menu, table service, bar skills, cocktails, allergens, systems and restaurant procedures.
- A clear route to senior waiter, bartender or supervisor roles for people who consistently perform well.
- Discounted or free food and employee discount.
- Company events.
