About Ridgeway Golf Club
Ridgeway Golf Club is a busy golf club, wedding and events venue offering weddings, private parties, corporate events, celebrations and other functions throughout the year.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and personable Assistant Weddings & Events Manager to join our team and support the smooth running of weddings and events from the initial planning stages through to the end of the event.
This is a hands-on role that requires someone who enjoys working with people, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable working in a busy events environment.
The Role
The Assistant Weddings & Events Manager will work closely with the Weddings & Events Manager and the owners of Ridgeway Golf Club to ensure that every wedding and event is delivered to a high standard.
The successful candidate will assist with customer communication, event preparation, room and venue set-up, supplier coordination, guest service and the management of events on the day.
The role will involve a mixture of daytime and evening/night shifts, which will alternate according to the events schedule. Weekend working is an essential part of the position, as many of our weddings and private events take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Key ResponsibilitiesWeddings & Events
- Assist with the planning and organisation of weddings, parties, corporate events and other functions.
- Help ensure all events run smoothly from set-up through to completion.
- Assist with preparing the clubhouse, marquee and other event areas before each event.
- Ensure tables, chairs, decorations, signage and other event requirements are correctly arranged.
- Welcome couples, guests and event organisers and provide a friendly, professional service.
- Assist with wedding ceremonies, wedding breakfasts, evening receptions and other special occasions.
- Liaise with suppliers, entertainers, DJs, photographers, decorators and other event professionals when required.
- Assist with coordinating timings throughout the event.
- Help resolve customer queries or issues quickly and professionally.
- Support the Weddings & Events Manager with last-minute changes and requests.
- Carry out end-of-event checks and assist with clearing and securing event areas.
Customer Service
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to all customers and guests.
- Build positive relationships with couples and event organisers.
- Respond to customer questions in a helpful and timely manner.
- Ensure customers receive the high level of service expected at Ridgeway Golf Club.
- Deal confidently and professionally with complaints or difficult situations, escalating issues to management where necessary.
- Help create a friendly, relaxed and memorable experience for our wedding and event customers.
Administration
- Assist with maintaining event schedules and function sheets.
- Help keep accurate records of customer requirements and event details.
- Assist with preparing event information for staff.
- Communicate important event requirements to bar, catering, housekeeping and other relevant team members.
- Assist with checking final event arrangements before the event takes place.
- Support the Weddings & Events Manager with general administrative duties.

Event Set-Up, Management & Clean-Down
- Assist with setting up and preparing event spaces before weddings and events.
- Ensure tables, chairs, decorations, signage and other event requirements are correctly arranged.
- Assist with the smooth running of the event from guest arrival through to the end of the evening.
- Remain on duty until the event has finished and guests have safely left the venue.
- Carry out the full clean-down of the event area at the end of the evening, including clearing tables, removing rubbish, tidying furniture and ensuring the venue is left clean, tidy and ready for the following day.
- Assist with washing, cleaning and storing event equipment where required.
- Ensure glasses, crockery, tables, chairs and other equipment are returned to the appropriate areas.
- Check toilets, function rooms, bar areas and other guest areas following events and report any issues to management.
- Assist with securing event areas and ensuring doors, equipment and facilities are left appropriately at the end of the shift.
- The role may involve late-night finishes, particularly following weddings and evening events, and the successful candidate must be prepared to remain at the venue until the required clean-down and closing duties have been completed.
Health & Safety
- Follow all Ridgeway Golf Club health and safety procedures.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed during event set-up and breakdown.
- Report hazards, accidents, incidents or damaged equipment to management.
- Assist with ensuring guests, staff and contractors remain safe during events.
- Follow relevant licensing, fire safety, food safety and venue procedures.
- Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed.
Working Hours
The role requires flexibility due to the nature of the wedding and events industry.
Working hours will alternate between daytime and evening/night shifts depending on the venue's event schedule.
The successful candidate must be available to work:

- Bank holidays where required
- Late finishes following weddings and evening events
Typical shifts may include daytime event preparation followed by evening event management, or daytime shifts depending on the venue's requirements.
