About the Role
The successful candidate will work with retail, inventory, finance, customer service and commercial teams to analyse store and sales performance, monitor operational trends, identify process issues and provide clear recommendations that support better business decisions.
This role is suitable for someone with experience in retail operations, commercial analysis, inventory, reporting or business performance who is comfortable working with operational data and translating it into practical improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Performance Analysis: Monitor retail performance across products, categories and operational areas.
Sales Reporting: Prepare regular sales and operational performance reports.
KPI Monitoring: Track key measures including sales, stock availability, conversion, average transaction value and operational efficiency.
Trend Analysis: Review historical data to identify changes in customer demand and retail performance.
Inventory Analysis: Monitor stock levels and identify potential shortages, overstock and slow-moving products.
Stock Availability: Work with inventory teams to improve product availability.
Stock Accuracy: Support investigation of differences between physical and system inventory.
Replenishment Analysis: Review replenishment requirements based on sales and stock movement.
Store Operations: Analyse recurring operational issues affecting retail performance.
Process Review: Review retail workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
Commercial Reporting: Provide operational information to commercial and management teams.
Promotional Analysis: Monitor the performance of retail promotions and special campaigns.
Pricing Analysis: Support review of pricing changes and their impact on sales performance.
Product Performance: Analyse product and category results to identify strong and weak performers.
Customer Trends: Review customer purchasing patterns and demand changes.
Returns Analysis: Monitor product returns and identify recurring reasons or trends.
Operational Dashboards: Maintain dashboards showing retail performance and operational indicators.
Data Validation: Check operational and sales data for accuracy and completeness.
System Reporting: Extract information from retail, inventory, ERP or point-of-sale systems.
Management Information: Prepare clear summaries for operational and management meetings.
Forecast Support: Assist with sales, inventory and workload forecasting.
Seasonal Planning: Analyse demand trends to support preparation for peak trading periods.
Store Comparisons: Compare performance across retail locations or business units where applicable.
Product Availability: Identify gaps between customer demand and available inventory.
Stock Movement: Analyse inventory movement between locations or operational areas.
Order Analysis: Review retail and customer order volumes.
Supply Coordination: Provide inventory and demand information to procurement and supply teams.
Margin Awareness: Support analysis of product margin and commercial performance.
Cost Monitoring: Review operational cost information where relevant.
Labour Analysis: Support analysis of workforce and staffing requirements against retail activity.
Productivity Monitoring: Track operational productivity and resource utilisation.
Retail Systems: Support improvements to retail reporting and operational systems.
Data Quality: Maintain consistent reporting definitions and data standards.
Issue Investigation: Investigate unusual performance changes or operational discrepancies.
Root Cause Analysis: Identify factors contributing to recurring retail problems.
Action Tracking: Monitor improvement actions arising from retail performance reviews.
Stakeholder Coordination: Work with retail, finance, supply chain and customer-service colleagues.
Project Support: Provide analysis for operational improvement projects.
New Product Support: Assist with performance monitoring following new product launches.
Promotional Planning: Provide historical data and analysis for future campaign planning.
Retail Documentation: Maintain clear records of reporting processes and operational measures.
Ad-Hoc Analysis: Respond to business requests for additional retail and operational insights.
Presentation: Present findings in a clear and practical format for non-technical stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For
Experience: Previous experience in retail operations, business analysis, commercial reporting, inventory, sales analysis or a related environment.
Retail Knowledge: Good understanding of retail operations and customer-facing business processes.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret sales, inventory and operational data.
Reporting: Experience preparing management reports or dashboards.
Microsoft Excel: Strong spreadsheet skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables and data analysis.
Data Accuracy: Strong attention to detail when working with operational and commercial data.
Inventory Awareness: Understanding of stock control and replenishment principles.
Commercial Awareness: Ability to understand how operational decisions affect sales, cost and customer experience.
Problem Solving: Ability to investigate performance issues and recommend practical improvements.
Organisation: Strong planning and time-management skills.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Stakeholder Management: Confidence working with retail, finance, operations and supply-chain teams.
