The Wee Childcare Company Ltd

Hours: 20 - 25 hours per week expected

The role will typically include a minimum of 16 hours each week spent supporting our Out of School Care settings in person, with the remaining hours worked flexibly from home or across our services to complete administration, planning and follow-up tasks.

As this is a new role, the exact balance of hours may develop over time depending on the needs of the service. The successful candidate will meet weekly with the Director to review priorities, discuss work completed and agree plans for the week ahead. A simple record of work undertaken, settings visited and actions completed will be maintained to support these meetings.

The settings are based in Arbroath, Carnoustie, Kirriemuir and Montrose.

About the role:

We're looking for a Practice & Support Manager to join our Out of School Care team.

This is a brand new role that has been created to provide practical support across all of our clubs. You'll work closely with the Director, Managers and Staff to help ensure our services continue to provide high-quality care for children and families. We've created this role because we recognise that our teams achieve the best outcomes when they feel well supported. By providing additional practical support across our services, this role will help managers and staff spend more time focusing on what matters most which is creating positive, engaging experiences for children and building strong relationships with families.

The role is varied and hands-on. Some days you'll be supporting children within our clubs, while on others you'll be helping with recruitment, quality improvement, parent communication, transport arrangements or administrative tasks. You'll also spend time working alongside managers and practitioners, helping them complete tasks, solve problems and continue to develop within their roles.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building positive relationships, works well as part of various teams, and isn't afraid to get stuck in wherever support is needed.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide support across all of our Out of School Care settings, working alongside children, families and staff to help our clubs run smoothly.

No two days will be the same, but your responsibilities are likely to include:

Supporting children:

Working within ratio for school aged children and providing additional support where required.
Building positive relationships with children.
Modelling high-quality childcare practice.
Supporting engaging play opportunities and positive experiences.

Supporting families:

Building positive relationships with parents and carers.
Assisting with admissions and enquiries.
Producing newsletters and parent communications.
Supporting with invoicing and outstanding fee collection in a professional and respectful manner.

Supporting staff and managers:

Providing practical day-to-day support across all settings.
Working alongside teams to complete tasks and overcome challenges.
Supporting recruitment, onboarding and safer recruitment checks.
Assisting with supervisions, appraisals and staff development where appropriate.
Helping managers complete improvement plans and quality assurance actions.
Sharing ideas and good practice between settings.

Supporting the organisation:

Helping coordinate staffing and transport arrangements.
Helping with resource and maintenance programmes.
Completing administrative tasks as required.
Visiting each setting regularly to identify where additional support may be beneficial.
Attending a weekly planning meeting with the Director.
Keeping a record of work completed, settings visited and agreed actions to review during weekly meetings.

About you:

You'll be someone who:

Has experience working within childcare, ideally in a senior or leadership role.
Enjoys supporting others and building positive working relationships.
Is organised and able to manage a varied workload.
Can balance practical childcare with administrative responsibilities.
Uses their initiative and is confident working independently.
Is flexible and willing to work across different settings.
Holds an SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Social Services (Children and Young People).
Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle.

Leadership or management qualifications are desirable but not essential. Full training will be given. We're interested in finding someone who shares our values, enjoys supporting others and is committed to providing high-quality experiences for children and families.

Pay: £15.00-£18.50 per hour
