Full job description

Overview

The Clere School is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable minibus driver From 1st September 2026 on a 0-hour contract basis to support our daily service for students who live outside our catchment in the Andover area. The hours of work will be 7:15am-8:45am and 3:05pm-4:25pm, Mon-Fri Term Time Only.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, good communication abilities, and a strong commitment to safety. This role offers an opportunity to contribute positively to the community while maintaining high standards of vehicle operation and student care.

Responsibilities

Safely operate the school minibus, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
Student Supervision: Register and supervise students during travel, ensuring safety measures like seatbelts are always in place.
Conduct routine checks on the vehicle’s mechanical condition prior to each journey
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking tyre pressure, oil levels, and fluid levels
Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the minibus at all times
Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents regarding schedules or any delays
Attend training where required
Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle inspections
Report any vehicle issues to the Senior Site Manager promptly for repairs or servicing
Taking the vehicle to be refuelled when needed.

Requirements

Aged over 25 with a valid and clean D1 driving licence.
MIDAS training will be provided if not already obtained.
Proven experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver is advantageous
Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Experience operating minibuses or similar vehicles preferred
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage schedules efficiently
Ability to work flexibly according to school timings, including early mornings or afternoons as required
Knowledge of safety procedures related to transporting children and managing vehicle safety protocols
Full DBS with Children's Barred List Check will be undertaken.
