The role:
Based at our Norfolk Bridge Works site in Sheffield, you will be reporting to and working with the Global IT Manager to support eight sites across Sheffield and Rotherham. Leading a small team and working as part of a global IT team of 20, your purpose will be to own key business systems including our ERP, CRM and PLM solutions as well as several key integrations.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading, supporting and developing a team of two application developers through regular one-to-ones, coaching, objective setting and performance reviews.
- Taking ownership of application support escalations and the ongoing development of Gripples key business applications, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, Power Platform and Windchill PLM.
- Managing escalations with our managed service partner and coordinating impact assessments and release schedules for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and Customer Engagement, in line with Microsofts One Version continuous update approach.
- Leading the applications teams contribution to the continued global rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 across Europe, the USA, Canada, India and Japan.
- Working with colleagues across the business to identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance system functionality and make better use of existing platforms.
- Owning and managing Azure DevOps for the applications team, ensuring requirements, user stories, development activity, testing, defects, releases and documentation are clearly controlled.
- Overseeing the integrations, third-party applications and ISV solutions that support end-to-end business processes.
- Establishing effective development and release management practices, including source control, testing, change control and deployment.
- Building strong relationships with business stakeholders, technology partners and vendors to resolve issues and support reliable, secure and effective applications.
- Planning and prioritising team resources across support escalations, continuous improvement and project delivery.
- Developing and maintaining technical, support and process documentation to strengthen team capability and improve service outcomes.
- Ensuring team members have clear development plans and access to relevant training and progression opportunities.

- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, including core business processes, security, licensing, workflows, reporting and integration options.
- Experience supporting or managing enterprise applications in a manufacturing, engineering or similarly complex environment.
- Understanding of the Dynamics 365 application lifecycle, including requirements, configuration, testing, release management and deployment between environments.
- Strong critical-thinking and consultation skills, with the confidence to understand business needs, challenge requests constructively and help shape practical, value-focused solutions.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements for developers, implementation partners and software vendors.
- Understanding of integrations, APIs, data entities and middleware, with the ability to assess dependencies and investigate issues across connected systems.
- Experience using Azure DevOps to manage requirements, development activity, testing, defects, releases and documentation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and its integration with wider Microsoft business applications, including Dual-write.
- Sufficient understanding of software development, source control, testing and deployment principles to guide a development team and challenge proposed approaches.
- Experience supporting Product Lifecycle Management or engineering systems, ideally PTC Windchill and ThingWorx, would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the confidence to manage stakeholders, set expectations and handle difficult conversations.
- A structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and drive issues through to resolution.
