The Youth Justice Service (YJS) works with children and young people who have offended, or who are at risk of offending, to reduce reoffending and improve outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while completing a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship. You'll develop professional skills, build confidence, and gain insight into how Children's Services operates at the heart of safeguarding and supporting vulnerable children.

About the Role

Business Support provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Youth Justice Service (YJS), ensuring the effective coordination of meetings, panels and court-related processes. The role demands exceptional organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to absorb, retain and accurately manage large volumes of complex and sensitive information from a variety of sources.

Working with highly confidential information, the post holder must demonstrate professionalism, discretion and sound judgement at all times. This is a fast-paced and challenging role that requires the ability to effectively prioritise and manage a diverse workload, often balancing competing demands and tight deadlines, while consistently maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency and customer service.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will help ensure that important information reaches the right professionals at the right time, supporting timely decision-making and interventions that help keep children safe.

What You'll Be Doing

Arrange, organise and support Youth Justice panel meetings, ensuring all relevant documentation is prepared and distributed in a timely manner.
Coordinate and administer reparation sessions, liaising with staff and partner agencies as required.
Organise Out of Court Referral Panels, including preparing documents, scheduling and correct recording.
Prepare documentation for court appearances and accurately record and process court outcomes.
Produce appointment letters, notifications and other administrative correspondence.
Manage diaries, appointments and meeting schedules for the service.
Identify, record and support the resolution of administrative and data recording errors.
Maintain accurate records and update case management systems in line with organisational procedures.
Record and interpret arrest documentations.
Undertake general office administration duties such as telephone queries, postal duties and caretaking duties.
