EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT WORKER

On Track Education provides specialist education for young people with diverse and complex needs. Established in 2004 by a dedicated team of Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers, we now operate nine independent schools across England. About On Track Barnstaple

On Track Education Barnstaple is an independent special school based across sites in Barnstaple and Bideford, providing full-time education, outreach and intervention for pupils aged 7–19 years. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in July 2025, the school offers small group and individualised learning in a nurturing, inclusive environment designed to support a wide range of needs. With a strong focus on social and emotional development, the curriculum blends academic, vocational and therapeutic approaches to help every pupil build confidence, resilience and real-world skills. Through trusted relationships between staff and pupils, On Track Barnstaple encourages young people to make meaningful progress in their learning, wellbeing, and future pathways.

The role

This is a rewarding role focused on providing personalised support to help young people re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Key responsibilities include:

· Providing tailored support and supervision for pupils aged 7–16, encouraging active engagement in learning and helping them work towards agreed goals and objectives

· Planning and delivering elements of learning or intervention programmes that support pupils’ individual progress

· Working both 1:1 and in small groups as part of a collaborative, professional team, supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development of each young person

· Leading intervention sessions on a 1:1 basis, delivered both on-site and off-site, to address specific pupil needs and support their re-engagement with education

About you

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs. Ideally, you will have:

Experience working with children or young people and a genuine passion for supporting their development
A motivation to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential
Confidence in managing behaviour positively and calmly, even in challenging situations
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person with pupils, colleagues, and families
A good general level of education, including GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths, and IT proficiency
The role involves transporting pupils, so you’ll need a full driving licence and

access to your own vehicle, insured for business use

Working hours

Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:45 am to 4:45 pm
