The TIDES and EI service offers a broad range of specialist interventions, including psychological therapies, family interventions, vocational support, physical health monitoring, and medicines optimisation. Our TIDES and Early Intervention Service is dedicated to meeting national standards for psychosis care and risk of developing psychosis and ensuring that service users receive compassionate, effective, and recovery-oriented support at a critical stage of their mental health journey.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will undertake postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), integrating academic learning with supervised clinical practice.

You will undertake comprehensive psychological assessments and provide formulation-driven CBTp interventions to service users within the local community. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with care coordinators, psychiatrists, family therapists, occupational therapists, and peer support workers to support holistic, recovery-focused care. Throughout your training, you will receive regular clinical supervision from accredited CBT therapists and experienced psychological practitioners, alongside structured line management support.

Upon successful completion of the training programme and accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), you will progress to a qualified CBT Therapist for Psychosis role within the TIDES Service. In this capacity, you will hold a specialist CBTp caseload, delivering evidence-based interventions to people experiencing psychosis, supporting service development initiatives, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, recovery-oriented care in line with national standards and service priorities.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Undergraduate degree (or equivalent overseas qualification). Other academic qualifications of an equivalent standard can be taken into account
A core mental health practitioner qualification or KSA route
Post qualification experience of working with in EI and holding responsibility (e.g. case management)

Significant experience of working in an EI or ARMS services. Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
Ability to manage own caseload and time
Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets

Desirable criteria

Experience in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes

Skills

Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other mental health problems

Demonstrates an understanding of the MDT working that takes place in an EI or TIDES setting
Demonstrates a commitment to learning and applying psychological theory in an EI or TIDES setting
